ALTEP-DP Research line 2

Research Line 2 of the 'Articulating Law, Technology, Ethics & Politics: Issues of Enforcement and Jurisdiction of EU Data Protection Law under and beyond the GDPR' (ALTEP-DP) project is concerned with cross-border issues related to European Union (EU) data protection law, and with how EU data protection law interacts with - and what it does to - the notion of 'border'.

  • On 15 October 2020, Gloria González Fuster participated to a workshop on the humanitarian use of drones taking place in the context of the University of Zurich's project Responsible Humanitarian Innovation: Opportunities and Challenges: What ethical challenges exist for the use of drones in humanitarian work?, in her capacity as project's Associated Member.
  • On 10 September 2020, Gloria González Fuster participated as speaker to the event 'Covid-19 and international law: science and disinformation, exceptions and emergencies' organised by the Stockholm Centre for International Law and Justice (SCILJ); see the video of the event here.
  • Gloria González Fuster was a member of the Task Force on Cross-border data access in criminal proceedings and the future of digital justice established by the Centre for European Policy Studies (CEPS) and Queen Mary University of London (QMUL), which culminated in the publication of the report Cross-border data access in criminal proceedings and the future of digital justice: Navigating the current legal framework and exploring ways forward within the EU and across the Atlantic. by Sergio Carrera, Marco Stefan and Valsamis Mitsilegas (October 2020).
  • On 7 July 2020, Christopher Kuner was an invited speaker at the event Data Protection in the age of COVID-19. Yesterday – Today – Tomorrow’, organised by the European Data Protection Supervisor (EDPS).
  • On 3 June 2020, Christopher Kuner was Co-Chair of the event 'Data Protection in the Time of COVID-19', celebrating the launch of the 2nd Edition of the Data Protection handbook for Humanitarian Action, organised by the International Red Cross Committee (ICRC); more information here.
  • On 5 May 2020, Gloria González Fuster was an invited speaker at the 'Privacy and Individual Liberties in the COVID-19 Crisis' webinar organised by the Delegation of the European Union to Mexico, as part of the Mexico-EU Dialogue Think Tanks - Online Dialogues Series (video here).
