Diana is a research associate in the Intellectual Property Law Unit at FIZ Karlsruhe. Her research focuses on data protection and privacy, particularly in the Area of Freedom Security and Justice (AFSJ). Diana is engaged in the CPDP Programming Committee and acts as a sub-editor for the EDPS Newsletter (DP Insider). She works currently also on the STARR (Horizon 2020) Project. She is also one of the authors of the forthcoming Elgar Publishers GDPR Commentary.
Diana is a PhD student at LSTS/Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB), focusing on data subject rights in the AFSJ. She focuses specifically on the rights of access and rectification with regards to personal data processed in the context of travel, e.g. PNR, ETIAS, EES, SIS, VIS, passport data.
Previously, Diana was employed as a research associate at the Faculty of Law, KU Leuven, where she was engaged in the FP7 eVACUATE and FastPass projects. The latter project concerned the topic of technologies for Automated Border Control (ABC), which tackled, amongst others, the legal issues surrounding the existing and emerging information systems and ICTs used in the implementation of AFSJ policies.
