Emre Bayamlıoğlu

Following to graduation from Ankara University Faculty of Law in 1997, he completed LLM studies in Southampton UK, and obtained his first PhD in 2007 from Marmara University, Istanbul.  Between 2010-2015, he was the assistant professor of IP and commercial law at Koç University Faculty of Law, Istanbul.

Since 2015 he has been pursuing a joint doctoral degree registered both at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) and Tilburg Law School under the supervision of Ronald Leenes and Mireille Hildebrandt. His thesis, "Transparency for contesting automated decisions: impediments and affordances under the EU Law", consists of four peer-reviewed articles and combines his previous expertise in IP law with an interdisciplinary research question concerning the scrutiny and contestation of automated data-driven decisions.
