Biography

Joanna Mazur is an Assistant Professor at the University of Warsaw (Faculty of Management). She defended a PhD thesis at the Faculty of Law and Administration at the University of Warsaw in 2021. The thesis and analysis conducted therein scrutinized whether it was possible to consider algorithms used in automated decision-making to be public information or an official document in European law (understood as European Union law and under the European Convention of Human Rights). Since 2016 she is also a researcher at the Digital Economy Lab (DELab) at the University of Warsaw, where she focuses on research concerning the regulation of digital economy in European Union.

Her publications include Secrecy by Default: How Regional Trade Agreements Reshape Protection of Source Code (with M. Słok-Wódkowska), Automated Decision-Making Systems as a Challenge for the Effective Legal Protection in the Light of European Union Law, and Can public access to documents support the transparency of automated decision-making? The European Union law perspective.
