Alessia Tanas

Alessia Tanas is a member of the Interdisciplinary Research Group on Law, Science, Technology & Society at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel. Her research interests focus on the interactions between law, the environment and the commons. Further fields of her interest include the regulation and governance of technology innovation. She holds long-standing expertise in EU energy regulation and Climate policy. Over the past years she has been involved in the implementation of the EU-funded projects ‘Candid’ - Checking Assumptions and Promoting Responsibility in Smart Development and ‘Parent’ - Participatory Platform for Sustainable Energy Management; as well as of the project ‘Commoning’ - studying commons’ initiatives in the Brussels Capital Region. 

Since 2016, she has been a member of the d.pia.lab - laboratory for data protection impact assessments:http://virthost.vub.ac.be/LSTS/dpialab/index.php  researching on whether lessons from environmental law could integrate the data protection field.
