
Francesca Tassinari
Biography
Dr. Francesca Tassinari, lawyer, is a Juan de la Cierva (JDC) postdoctoral research fellow at the Department of Public Law of the University of Basque Country (UPV/EHU), Spain, under grant agreement JDC2022-048217-I. She got her PhD in international law and international relations at the University of Granada (UGR), Spain, and in EU law and national legal orders at the University of Ferrara (UNIFE), Italy, in 2022. She was the first candidate for the UNIFE/UGR Double Degree in Law in 2016 and worked for the European Commission between 2020/2021 and 2022/2023 as a trainee and officer.
Francesca's postdoctoral research focuses on critical subjects such as data protection, interoperability, and smart borders, contributing to evolving discourse and policy formation in the international landscape. Her pre-doctoral project on The external reach of the interoperability of large-scale IT systems in the AFSJ, grant agreement FPU18/00497, was published by the Brill/Nijhoff editorial in 2024 with the book titled Data Protection and interoperability in EU External Relations. Guaranteeing global data transfers in the area of freedom, security and justice.
She is a member of the Research Group IT 1541-22 in Social and Legal Sciences applied to New Technologies (CISJANT), Accademia di Diritto dell’Immigrazione (ADiM), and Pool of Expert Group in support of the European Data Protection Board (EDPB).
