FARI – AI for the Common Good Institute will host a session titled “From Silence to Science: Rectifying Women’s Health Data Gaps in Perinatal Violence and Gynecological Cancer,” and invites you to join the discussion led by LSTS doctoral researcher Anastasia Karagianni.
This session will focus on the challenges posed by data gaps in women’s health, particularly in the areas of obstetric and perinatal violence and gynecological cancer. You will learn about the importance of accurate data collection, the impact of gender biases, and the role digital technologies can play in improving healthcare outcomes for women.
Anastasia Karagianni is a Doctoral Student at the LSTS Research Group of the Law and Criminology Faculty of VUB. Her academic background is mainly based on International and European Human Rights Law, as she holds an LL.M from the Department of International Studies of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. Besides her academic interests, Anastasia is a digital rights activist, since she is a co-founder of DATAWO, a civil society organisation based in Greece for the advocacy of gender equality in the digital era. Anastasia Karagianni is MozFest Ambassador 2023, and Mozilla Awardee for the project “A Feminist Dictionary in AI”– of the Trustworthy Artificial Intelligence working group.
