This year, several LSTS and HALL researchers speak at the conference of the European Association of Health Law to be held in Ghent from 20 until 22 April 2022. During the first day, April 20, Anastasiya Kiseleva, Danaja Fabcic Povse and Olga Gkotsopoulou will participate at the PhD workshop. Next day, on April 21, two presentations will be held. First, Anastasiya Kiseleva will present the topic “AI as a Medical Device: Between the Medical Devices Framework and the AI Act” at the session “New Technologies in healthcare (part 2).” Second, Danaja Fabcic Povse will speak on “The establishment of HERA, the extension of the ECDC mandate and data collection in the context of pandemic surveillance” at the session Health Data: Quality and Governance (part 2). During the last day of the conference, on April 23, Olga Gkotsopoulou and Luka van der Veer will speak about "Citizen science for improved healthcare: where does the law stand?" in the parallel session Legal Condition for Quality of Care (part 1).
The EAHL conference this year is devoted to the topic of “Quality of healthcare. Can the law help to guarantee safe and reliable care for the patient?” The conference will therefore offer a unique programme of distinguished keynote speakers, workshops and oral and poster presentations on broad scientific issues covering the conference theme.
