Divergencies of Gender Discrimination in the EU AI Act Through Feminist Epistemologies: Unpacking Epistemic Controversies and Gender Bias in EU AI Law
This seminar is a brief presentation of Anastasia's thesis, which examines the EU AI Act and its role in addressing algorithmic gender-based discrimination. It explores how AI systems can reinforce biases and assesses whether the Act’s regulatory and enforcement mechanisms effectively safeguard gender equality and non-discrimination. By analysing legal frameworks such as the GDPR, EU non-discrimination law and key case law, the discussion highlights gaps in the current approach. The seminar concludes with recommendations for strengthening the AI Act to ensure AI technologies align with fundamental human rights and equality principles.
