LSTS Professor Joris van Hoboken gave comments to The New York Times with respect to the recently published CJEU decisions concerning the global application of the right to be forgotten and the processing of special categories of personal data by search engines.
Professor van Hoboken stated that "Tuesday’s decisions were an attempt to maintain an individual’s right to privacy against the public’s right to know, but that the rulings delegated the decision making to Google" and continued, “the assumption is that Google is going to do that balancing well”.
