LSTS researcher Cong Yao has had an article published, "A Want or A Need? Digital Health Technologies and Their Role in Reshaping the Right to Health," in the European Health & Pharmaceutical Law Review (EHPL) 3/2025 by Lexxion Publisher in collaboration with Health & Ageing Law Lab (HALL).
The paper contends that digital health technologies have transitioned from a luxury to a necessity for realizing the fundamental human right to health in the digital era. However, this evolution presents a critical paradox: these very tools, designed to bridge healthcare gaps, risk exacerbating inequalities through the digital divide, algorithmic bias, and infrastructural disparities.
