The 4th European Privacy Law Scholars Conference (PLSC Europe), organised by the Institute for Information Law (IViR), will be held on Thursday and Friday, 24-25 October 2019, at the University of Amsterdam.
LSTS has a str?ng presence in this year's conference. Its researchers will participate with four papers, covering a variety of topics.
On Thursday 24 October (13:00-14:15), Prof Gloria González Fuster and Olga Gkotsopoulou participate with their paper on 'Sex, life, and data protection: An exploration'. On the same day, at the late afternoon session (16:30-17:45), Gianclaudio Malgieri takes part with his paper on 'A linguistic comparison of the concept of Fairness in the GDPR: towards a vulnerability-aware interpretation of (un)fairness as imbalance'.
Prof González Fuster will be as well the discussant of the paper authored by Smarika Lulz (Humboldt University of Berlin) on 'Who Are We Unwilling to Hear? Problematising Data, Algorithmic, and AI Governance for Social Justice'.
On Friday 25 October (9:30-10:45), Laura Drechsler participates with her research on 'Adequacy decisions under the Law Enforcement Directive: “the same but different” compared to GDPR adequacy'. In late afternoon (15:15-16:30), René Mahieu and Joris van Hoboken (University of Amsterdam) with Hadi Asghari will discuss their paper on 'Investigating an ecology of transparency: Experiences of the right of access in practice'.
LSTS affiliated researchers will be also present to discuss their research. Among them: Gabriela Zanfir-Fortuna (Future of Privacy Forum), Katja de Vries (Lund University), Orla Lynskey (London School of Economics) and Raphael Gellert (Tilburg University).
