Researchers from LSTS Vanessa Ugolini and Rocco Bellanova, in collaboration with Rosamunde van Brakel (VUB) and Matthias Leese (ETH Zurich), within Dataunion, have recently published a new piece with Internet Policy Review, titled 'Automating Security? The redesign of air passenger data connectivity across Europe'.
Building on recent regulatory developments in algorithmic traveller security (aka API regulations), in this brief piece we argue that the automation of seemingly mundane practices requires a closer consideration of data connectivity and its societal and regulatory implications.
