Join us at the latest in the LSTS seminar series with visiting researcher Marcin Rojszczak. Marcin is an Assistant Professor of Cybersecurity and Privacy Law at the University of Gdańsk. His research focuses on cybersecurity, electronic surveillance, and the cross-border application of data protection law.
The title of the research, When bulk surveillance meets AI, looks at the increasing use of AI systems in electronic surveillance not only creates new opportunities at the data analysis stage but also paves the way for the development of a new generation of surveillance systems in which data collection and data analysis are algorithmically integrated. The scope of my project is to examine the impact of AI-based bulk surveillance on individual rights guaranteed by the European human rights system and – based on these findings – to propose a final legal framework for the regulation of algorithmic surveillance systems used by public authorities in the European Union.
