Biography
Natalia is a doctoral researcher at the Law, Science, Technology, and Society Research Group (LSTS), having joined in March 2024 to work on the project "Risk as a non-objective phenomenon: Integrating cognitive, legal, and social science into the concept of risk in European data protection law," supervised by professor Dr. Niels van Dijk at the d.pia.lab.
Her education includes a bachelor's degree in Law from the University of Uberaba, a bachelor's degree in Social Development Technology from the Federal Institute of Triângulo Mineiro, a specialization in Criminal Law, and a master's degree in Technological Innovation from the Federal University of Triângulo Mineiro. Her main interests lie in the field of data protection, focusing on risk management assessment tools, privacy and ethics in algorithmic decision-making, and the impacts of emerging technologies on data security and protection.
With over 15 years of experience as a government employee in Brazil, Natalia contributed to the implementation of data protection policies at the Institute of Exact Sciences and Technologies of a university, as well as participating in processes related to the misappropriation of government funds from a Unesco Global Geopark. She also taught classes for the National Program for Access to Technical Education and Employment (ProNaTec-Brazil).
