Nicolas Heynderickx
Biography
Nicolas Heynderickx is a part-time PhD researcher at the LSTS research group of the VUB, under the supervision of Prof. Sophie Stalla-Bourdillon. His doctoral research examines how the transparency obligations of the EU Artificial Intelligence Act are implemented in practice. It focuses on the strategies of regulated actors, the role of private intermediaries in interpreting the law, and the normative conditions under which these obligations become effective.
He holds four master's degrees from the Université libre de Bruxelles and the Université Saint-Louis, in international relations, European studies, human rights and religious studies. Alongside his research, he works as an independent consultant in EU affairs and AI governance, is developing a start-up project in the field of AI regulatory compliance, and writes regularly on AI law and policy on his website, nicolasheynderickx.eu.
