Biography

Olga joined the PhD programme at LSTS at the VUB Faculty of Law and Criminology in June 2018. She currently works on the Horizon 2020-funded project “Cyber-Trust| Advanced Cyber-Threat Intelligence, Detection, and Mitigation Platform for a Trusted Internet of Things”, which aims to create a novel cyber-security solution based on key cyber-threat proactive technologies, AI-powered cyber-attack detection and mitigation tools, and distributed ledger technologies for the transfer of electronic evidence. 

She holds a Bachelor of Laws from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (Greece), a Master of Laws in International Human Rights and Humanitarian Law (European University Viadrina, Germany) and an Advanced Master of Laws on Intellectual Property and ICT Law (KU Leuven, Belgium). During her undergraduate studies, she was a visiting student for a semester at the University of Helsinki (Finland). 

Keen on data protection and privacy issues, as well as the respective ethical implications, Olga previously worked and interned for the Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs (LIBE) of the European Parliament in Brussels (Belgium), the Free Software Foundation Europe in Berlin (Germany), the Hellenic Data Protection Authority in Athens (Greece), the International Clinical Trials Registry Platform of the World Health Organisation in Geneva (Switzerland) and the Greek Council for Refugees (Greece). In 2019, as part of her research project, Olga did a study visit at the EU Fundamental Rights Agency in Vienna (Austria).

In her PhD dissertation, she focuses on the interplay of data protection and privacy through the lenses of gender, sex life and sexual orientation.
