Onntje Hinrichs
Biography
Onntje Hinrichs joined LSTS in Decembre 2021 as a PhD student. He works in the H2020 LeADS - Legality Attentive Data Scientists project under a Marie-Sklodowska-Curie ITN grant. His research focuses on how conflicts resulting from diverging interests between data holders and data exploiters can be solved through a spectrum of quasi-property models.
He has been working for several years as a legal advisor in a French-German consumer association focusing on dispute resolution mechanisms. Within the European Consumer Centres Network created by the European Commission, Onntje assisted consumers in reaching out-of-court solutions in cross-border conflicts.
He obtained a Bachelor in European Studies from Maastricht University and a Master in European law from the Lyon 3 law faculty. Furthermore, Onntje took several courses at Queen Mary University of London in technology and telecommunications law focusing on EU data protection laws and challenges posed by evolving areas such as cloud computing or AI.
