Pauline McBride
Biography
Pauline is a Research Fellow at Northumbria University. Before joining Northumbria, she was a postdoctoral researcher at Vrije Universiteit Brussels, working on the ERC grant-funded project COHUBICOL (Counting as a Human Being in the Era of Computational Law) led by Mireille Hildebrandt. The project explored the implications of code-driven and data-driven legal technologies for law, the practice of law and legal protection.
Pauline taught at the University of Glasgow between 2007 and 2017. Her teaching covered topics at the intersection of law and technology including intellectual property, information technology law, data protection, e-commerce, computer forensics and e-discovery. After completing her PhD on the enforceability of browse-wrap terms of use, Pauline joined Queen’s University Belfast as a lecturer on their innovative LLM in Law and Technology in 2020. Pauline is a Scottish solicitor, a member of the Law Society of Scotland’s Technology Committee and an expert on the Future Committee of the Council of the Bars and Law Societies of Europe.
