Sara Roda
Biography
Sara Roda is an external PhD student in the LSTS research group and Senior Policy Officer at the Standing Committee of European Doctos (CPME).
She worked as a lawyer in Lisbon at Abreu, Cardigos & Associados (currently Abreu Advogados) and at ABBC Law firm (currently DLA Piper) in the areas of public and administrative law until 2009. She then worked for almost seven years as a legal and senior policy officer at the CED – Council of European Dentists ASBL gaining experience in EU affairs and lobbying. From October 2018 until mid-March 2020, she worked as a doctoral researcher at the VUB-LSTS and was involved in the EU co-funded project HR-Recycler. She was DPO and Member of the Core Programming Committee 2020 CPDP - Computers, Privacy and Data Protection. She is member of the Portuguese Bar Association.
Sara graduated from Lisbon University Law School in 2001 (public law option). She holds a “DES – Diplome d’études specialisés” in public and administrative law from the Université Libre de Bruxelles law school (2006) and an LLM in International and European Law from VUB/IES - Institute of European Studies in Brussels (Greatest Distinction), being awarded a certificate for 'Outstanding Master Thesis' on passenger name records and data protection (2018).
Her main research interests are data protection, innovation/experimentation in law, health, robotic law, human-robot interactions, AI and ethics, PNR data and law enforcement access to data.
