
Stefano Tramacere
Biography
Stefano is a PhD candidate in the National Doctorate in Artificial Intelligence (AI) for Society with a legal scholarship at Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna and University of Pisa.
His research explores the intersection between law and computer science, focusing on transparency and accountability of the entire process of design, development and deployment of high-risk AI systems for persons in real contexts. His research interests include AI governance, transparency, and accountability principles in relation to Explainable AI techniques (XAI), and liability aspects of defective products.
His strength lies in his ability to create synergistic dialogue between legal scholars and computer scientists, creating an interdisciplinary bridge between the two disciplines.
He is an active member of LIDER-Lab, a legal research group at DIRPOLIS Institute of Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna, and collaborates with DHAI, a computer science research group at Scuola Normale Superiore di Pisa.
During his doctoral journey, he spent a period as a visiting researcher with the LSTS at Vrije Universiteit Brussel, under the guidance of Prof. Hildebrandt and Prof. Gonzalez Fuster.
Stefano obtained his Master's degree in Law summa cum laude from the University of Trento. During his Master’s studies, he completed two international academic experiences at the Faculty of Law of Babeș-Bolyai University in Cluj-Napoca and at the Faculty of Law and Rothberg International School of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
