Ying Lin
Biography
Ying Lin is a doctoral researcher at the Law, Science, Technology and Society (LSTS) research group and a member of the Cyber and Data Security Lab (CDSL). He started his PhD under the supervision of Prof Vagelis Papakonstantinou. He is working on the research project “How to enable personal data transfers with the EU for the US and China: illusion and reality”, within the framework of the China Scholarship Council Programme (CSC-VUB Scholarship Programme).
Ying holds an LL.M. in International and European Law with a specialisation in Data Law from the VUB/BSOG (Great Distinction) in 2022 and a BA in management from Chongqing University of Technology in 2018. Prior to joining LSTS, he worked as a lawyer in China, mainly practising criminal law. His academic interests include data governance, cross-border data transfers, AI regulation, and international interoperability of legal digital regimes.
