
Yiran Wei
Biography
WEI Yiran is a visiting researcher at the Faculty of Law & Criminology of the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB). Her research focuses on EU security governance, legal challenges posed by emerging technologies and Public International Law.
She is an Associate Professor at the School of Law, Zhongnan University of Economics and Law (ZUEL) and a board member of the European Law Research Committee of the Chinese Association for European Studies and the China Behavioral Law Society. Previously, she was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Institute of European Studies, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences.
She holds a Ph.D. in International Law. Her research interests lie at the nexus of security and data protection, particularly in the evolving regulatory landscape of the EU. She has published on topics such as EU counter-terrorism law, predictive policing, and data governance in security policies. Her recent work has explored the impact of emerging technologies on European security governance.
