Our next Book Club will be concluding two years of activities, giving us the opportunity to discuss fiction, non-fiction, poetry, movies, documentaries, paintings and what not! The final Book Club meeting for this year will take place on Thursday, 1 December 2022, at 17:00-18:30 Brussels time [Please notice the date and time have changed!] on Tuesday 10 January 2023 at 16:00-17:30 Brussels time, exclusively online! This time we will be discussing a book picked from the LSTS Books of the Year 2021 list :
Invisible women : Data Bias in a World Designed for Men (2019) by Caroline Criado Perez (272 pages)
Lina Jasmontaite will open the discussion with a brief prologue on the book!
This time there is also a recommendation for an asynchronous movie watching: Promising Young Woman . You can watch the movie at your own convenience and we will dedicate a few minutes to discuss about it in relation to the book.
Like last year, during this Book Club we will take a moment to discuss its future (its 3rd year of activities). So if you want to have your say (do you have a suggestion for a book, or for a specific date, or even a suggestion for an activity?), now it's your chance!
The MS Teams link to Book Club #9 is communicated to the LSTS mailing list. If you are not part of this mailing list and want to receive the link, send an email to olga.gkotsopoulou@vub.be and simone.casiraghi@vub.be.
The Book Club is an informal and relaxed environment, that promotes discussion and creativity! As always, having read the book is not a prerequisite to participate in the Book Club.
